Short CV

Yannik Schälte did a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science (2012-2015) and a MSc in Mathematics (2015-2017) with focus on probability theory and number theory, both mostly at the University of Bielefeld. Then, he did a PhD in Mathematics (2017-2021) on efficient and accurate statistical inference for deterministic and stochastic models of biochemical systems, at the Technical University of Munich and the Helmholtz Center Munich. Since 2021, he is working as a PostDoc at the University of Bonn, in the group of Jan Hasenauer.

In particular:
  • Likelihood-free Bayesian inference for complex stochastic models via Approximate Bayesian Computation
  • Optimization for high-dimensional differential equation models
  • Non-linear mixed-effect modeling
  • Dynamical modeling of gene expression on single-cell level
  • Neural and universal differential equations
  • FitMultiCell: Inference for multi-cellular systems
  • Lead developer of pyPESTO and pyABC, and co-developer of various other tools, see GitHub
