Roy completed his BSc in Computational and Applied Mathematics at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, with a focus on the topic of fluid dynamics, through a final year project on the modelling of viscous gravity currents. He progressed with his MSc under the supervison of Prof. Deepak Kar, and in partnership with the South Africa – CERN Colloboration, in the applications of anomaly detection for new high energy particle physics discoveries. He officially joined the Hasenauer Lab as a PhD student in 2022, and currently works on federated learning uses for infectious disease modelling. When he is not reading classical literature or fooling around with electronics, you can typically spot him hiking with his friends.
