Moritz studied chemistry and mathematics at Leipzig University. His Bachelor’s thesis in theoretical chemistry focused on problems related to the automated calculation of reaction paths, while his Diploma thesis in probability theory investigated extensions of the classical Moran model in the context of cancer development, incorporating cell cycle and spatial effects. In August 2025, Moritz joined the group of Prof. Hasenauer as a PhD student, where he works on mathematical models of cancer organoids with applications to personalized medicine.
